London — Portugal continues to ban non-essential travelling such as tourism from South Africa, Brazil and Nepal, and travellers coming from these flights can only visit the country for essential purposes, as SchengenVisaInfo.comreports.

In a press release published on the government’s official site, travellers from South Africa, Brazil and Nepal must undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival, either at home or in a place designated by the Portuguese health authorities.

“The Government determined that passengers from flights originating in South Africa, Brazil, India and Nepal are still only able to carry out essential journeys,” the press release reads.

In the recent 24 hours, the World Health Organisation has shown that 618 people have died in Brazil due to Coronavirus complications, and there are 27,804 positive cases. About 138 deaths and 12,222 positive cases are reported in South Africa, and 20 deaths and 1,728 positive cases in Nepal.

Similar restrictions are imposed on United Kingdom travellers, who must undergo quarantine restrictions upon arrival to the country. Those who present proof of vaccination certificates indicating the holder was vaccinated with one of the European Medicines Agency approved vaccines (Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Janssen) at least 14 days before arrival are exempted from quarantine requirements
