Nepali Film Stars are in London for Yeti International Nepali Film Awards 2024
London — The Nepali Association UK, the oldest Nepali social organisation in Europe, is set to host the Yeti International Nepali Film Awards (INFA) 2024 today evening. The association, which was established in 1960, has made extensive preparations for the event, which aims to recognize and celebrate the best in Nepali cinema.
The prestigious awards ceremony will take place at Greenford Town Hall, London, on Saturday, 14th September.
A host of well-known Nepali actors, including Anmol KC, Keki Adhikari, Jasita Gurung, Zia KC, Sushant Khatri, Malina Joshi, Garima Sharma, and Shilpa Maske, have already arrived in London for the event.
A total of 56 Nepali films will compete for awards in 16 different categories. The winners have been selected by a jury comprising senior actors Sunil Thapa, Gauri Malla, and director Ujjwal Ghimire after a 26-day evaluation process.
Yeti International Nepali Film Awards President Pipla Dewan, Chief Coordinator Umeshraj Moktan, Secretary General Tank Bhattarai, and Deputy Secretary General Ashish Pant have invited the public to attend and support the event.
“Despite this being the first time organizing such an event, we are confident of its success and have optimistic for continued support from the Nepali community and beyond” award ceremony coordinator Mr Umesh Raj Moktan said.
Actor Bhuvan KC has voiced his hope that the awards will help promote Nepali cinema, its artists, and the broader cultural arts. He envisions London becoming a key market for Nepali films in the future with the continuation of such international events.
The 2024 INFA marks a significant milestone for the Nepali film industry, spotlighting its growth and artistic achievements on a global stage, host Maya event chair person Mr. Raj Pandey stated.
