Legendary Climber Kami Rita Sherpa Sets New World Record with 29th Everest Ascent
London — In a historic feat, legendary climber Kami Rita Sherpa has once again etched his name in the annals of mountaineering history by summiting Mount Everest for an unprecedented 29th time. The 54-year-old mountaineer achieved this remarkable milestone at 7:25 am, as confirmed by Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, CEO of 14 Peaks Expedition.
Kami Rita, a senior guide at 14 Peaks Expedition and a native of Thame village in Solukhumbu, Nepal, has dedicated his life to the pursuit of mountaineering excellence. Born on January 2, 1970, he discovered his passion for climbing at a young age and has since become synonymous with the world’s highest peak.
His journey in the realm of mountaineering began in 1992 when he joined an expedition to Everest as a support staff member. Since then, Kami Rita has fearlessly embarked on numerous expeditions, conquering not only Everest multiple times but also other formidable peaks, including K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu.
Chief of the Expedition Monitoring and Facilitation Field Office at the base camp, Khimlal Gautam, confirmed Kami Rita’s latest ascent, breaking his own record for the most successful ascents of Everest. This extraordinary achievement solidifies Kami Rita’s status as a living legend in the world of mountaineering, inspiring countless climbers and enthusiasts worldwide.
