London — A young British Asian youth has been elected as the new leader of the Scottish Labour party. A member of the Scottish Parliament Mr. Anas Sarwar from Glasgow, has been elected as the new leader of the Scottish Labour Party.
The election took place after Richard Leonard resigned, stating that it was in the best interests of the party for him to stand down, with Sarwar defeating the more left-leaning candidate, Monica Lennon. Sarwar gained 57.6% of the vote, to Ms Lennon’s 42.4%.
It is the greatest honour of my life to be elected leader of @ScottishLabour.
I will be a leader that focuses on what unites us as a country – not what divides us. pic.twitter.com/Gu08Sx0TNl
