COVID 19 : Nepal records the highest number of cases in a single day until now
Kathmandu — The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Friday confirmed 2,722 new cases of COVID-19. This is the highest number of cases recorded by Nepal in a single day until now.
In 14,739 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 2,722 persons were found with the novel coronavirus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the MoHP in the daily press briefing today.
Meanwhile, some 3,307 COVID-19 patients staying at home isolation or receiving treatment at various institutional isolations across the nation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate now stands at 73.6 per cent, the state-owned Rising Nepal reports.
Currently, there are 21, 234 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 9,474 patients are in institutional isolation and 11,760 are in home isolation. Some 4,885 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.
Of the active patients, 210 are admitted to the ICU and 29 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.
With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 82,450 including 60,696 cases of recovery and 520 death cases.
